Band-e-Amir โ Afghanistan's First National Park
Band-e-Amir is a series of six incredibly blue lakes in the heart of the Hindu Kush mountains, created by natural travertine dams. Located at 2,916 meters elevation in Bamiyan Province, these lakes were designated Afghanistan's first national park in 2009. The striking contrast between the deep blue water and the surrounding red and beige cliffs makes this one of the most photographed natural wonders in Central Asia.

The site is named 'Dam of the King' referring to Ali as king. The area became Afghanistan's first national park in 2009, protected for its unique natural beauty.
